HEARLY AID Frequently Asked Questions
Everything you need to know — answered.
About Hearly Aid
It's a proper hearing aid - not a cheap amplifier. FDA-registered, rechargeable, designed for mild to moderate hearing loss. You order it online. It shows up at your door. No clinic visits required.
People who hear fine in quiet rooms but struggle when there's background noise. People whose family keeps telling them the TV is too loud. People who've been putting this off because hearing aids seemed too expensive or too complicated. That's who we built this for.
No. Hearly Aid is an FDA-registered over-the-counter hearing aid. You order online. No doctor, no hearing test, no appointment needed.
Product & Technology
Real hearing aids. Not amplifiers. A cheap amplifier makes everything louder — voices, traffic, the ceiling fan, all of it. Hearly Aid uses digital signal processing to separate speech from background noise. You hear the person talking to you, not everything else in the room.
All day. Put them in when you wake up, take them out before bed. The charging case holds extra charge for when you’re out and about.
A couple of hours in the case. Charge them overnight and they’re ready every morning.
Yes. Stream phone calls, music, TV, and podcasts straight to your hearing aids from your phone. Works with iPhone and Android.
No. They work perfectly on their own right out of the box. A smartphone lets you use the app for fine-tuning and Bluetooth streaming, but it’s not required.
They sit behind the ear and they’re tiny. Multiple ear dome sizes are included so you can find the right fit. Most people around you won’t notice them at all.
Mild to moderate hearing loss — which is what most people experience as they get older. If you’re struggling in noisy rooms, asking people to repeat themselves, or turning the TV up louder than everyone else, these are built for you. If you have severe hearing loss or sudden changes, see a doctor first.
Pricing & Value
$349 per pair. An audiologist would charge you $2,000–$5,000+ for the same technology.
No catch. Traditional hearing aids are expensive because you’re paying for the audiologist’s clinic, their fitting fees, their rent, and their markup. We sell the same technology directly to you online and cut all of that out. That’s it.
It uses the same core technology — digital signal processing, directional microphones, background noise reduction, Bluetooth. The difference is how we sell them, not how we build them. One of our customers put it best: “About 90% as good as my $3,800 pair. Maybe better for phone calls.”

Setup & Getting Started
Take them out of the charging case. Pick the right ear dome size. Put them in. That’s it. Takes about two minutes. No clinic visit, no professional fitting needed. If you want to fine-tune the settings, open the app. If you don’t, the default settings work well for most people.
Yes. If you can put earbuds in and charge a phone, you can use Hearly Aid. The app is optional — the hearing aids work straight out of the box with pre-set settings. One of our customers said: “I can barely work my phone. Didn’t need my grandson for this.”
Start with the medium — it fits most people. If it feels loose or you get feedback, go one size up. If it feels too tight, go one size down. It’s normal to need a different size for each ear.

Daily Use
Yes. They’re designed for all-day wear. Most customers put them in first thing in the morning and take them out at bedtime. If you’re new to hearing aids, build up gradually over the first couple of weeks.
Yes. They’re specifically tuned to help you follow conversations when there’s background noise. No hearing aid eliminates all background noise completely — but the difference in a restaurant or family gathering is significant. This is the situation most of our customers say improved the most.
Light activity like walking or yoga, absolutely. For heavy sweating — running, gym workouts — we’d suggest taking them out. Moisture is the enemy of any electronic device.
We offer a 30-day return policy. If you're not satisfied with your purchase, you can return it within 30 days for a full refund or exchange.
Care & Maintenance
Wipe them with a dry cloth after each use. Use the included cleaning tool to brush any openings. Replace the ear domes every 2–3 months and the wax guards monthly. That’s the single best thing you can do to keep them working well.
In the charging case when you’re not wearing them. It charges them and protects them. Keep them away from water, heat, and pets.
Troubleshooting
First, put them back in the charging case, close the lid, wait a few seconds, take them out. If that doesn’t fix it, check the wax guard — a clogged wax guard is the most common cause. Try a fresh one. If it’s still not working after a full charge, contact our support team.
Yes — especially in the first few weeks. Your brain has been compensating for years and it needs time to readjust. The tinny quality fades as your brain adapts. You can also use the app to fine-tune the sound. Give it at least 2–3 weeks before judging.
That’s feedback — usually means the ear dome isn’t sealing properly or the volume is too high. Try a larger dome size for a snugger fit, and lower the volume slightly. Make sure nothing is covering the microphone.
Put them back in the case, close the lid, wait 5 seconds, take them out. Make sure Bluetooth is on on your phone. If it still won’t connect, restart your phone and try pairing again.
Hearing Health
Many people find they do. By bringing back the sounds you’ve been missing, hearing aids can reduce how much you notice the ringing. Some of our customers say their tinnitus went from unbearable to barely noticeable. It’s not a cure, but it can be a significant relief.
Research from Johns Hopkins found that wearing hearing aids may reduce the risk of cognitive decline by up to 48%. Untreated hearing loss is also linked to social isolation and depression — mostly because people slowly withdraw from conversations and situations they used to enjoy. That’s the real cost of putting it off.
No. When used as designed, they won’t damage your hearing. The output levels are calibrated to safe, FDA-compliant standards. If you ever experience pain or discomfort, take them out and contact us.
Most people are, at first. Then they put them in and realise nobody notices. These sit behind your ear and they’re smaller than most earbuds. Once you experience the difference — actually hearing your grandkids, following a conversation at dinner without straining — the self-consciousness fades fast. As one customer put it: “My own kids didn’t notice until I told them.”
